Apple Crumble

Apple crumble version 1 using plain wheat flour and oats, walnuts and cinnamon.

Ingredients
  

  • 100 gms plain all-purpose flour
  • 50 gms oats or other grain of choice
  • 50 gms walnuts – chopped
  • 50 gms dark sugar
  • 50 gms beet or cane sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 80 ml rapeseed oil
  • 1.5 large apples

Instructions
 

  • The crumble topping can be made up to a day in advance and kept in the fridge.
    To make the topping, in a mixing bowl combine all the ingredients apart from the apples, stir well with a fork to combine, making sure all the dry ingredients are moistened by the oil.
  • Pre-heat oven to 180c
  • Peel the apples and cut into smallish chunks or slices.
  • Arrange the apples over the bottom of a baking dish and sprinkle evenly with the topping.
  • Bake in the oven for about 40 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is brown.
  • Leave to cool to a warm or room temperature before serving.
